Day Spa Offers Cozy Ambiance

"My primary focus is to offer a complete day spa experience in a serene environment at a reasonable price." That's how Kim Barnes, owner of A Wine Country Salon & Spa sums up her business philosophy.

"This isn't your typical spa," Barnes said.  "When people come here it's like coming home, and that's how I want them to feel."

Vintage furniture and warm colors add to the home ambiance.

"What I'm offering is an experience to enhance health and well-being," Barnes said.

Three different types of massage therapy are offered at the day spa:
Swedish, Japanese acupressure and chair massage, offered in 30, 60 and 90 minute sessions.  15 minute chair massages are also available. 

Various body wraps, such as the lavender dream seaweed wrap, are offered, body scrubs and steam. Full-service salon services are available: facials, waxing, make up and bridal services.

"I'm trying to give people the day spa experience without the day spa price," Barnes said. Body wraps run $95 for 75 minutes, while massages are $75 for a full 60 minutes.

Offering lower prices than competing spas doesn't mean compromising
individualized attention, said Barnes. Clients can expect to get a full 60 minutes of work for a pedicure or manicure, as well as a hot herbal neck pillow around their neck to ease tension.

"By the time they're finished, they want to fall asleep." Barnes said.

For 10 years, Barnes has made beauty her business, starting as a hairdresser, before moving into manicures and pedicures, and now a full day spa.

"People need to wind down," Barnes said. "We are accomplishing so much in our lives. We need to take time to relax and rejuvenate."
